On 3 August 2015, President and the members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) had a detailed meeting with the Secretary General of the Supreme Court, officials of Registry, Supreme Court security, Intelligence Bureau and Delhi Police to discuss the measures to deal with increased threat perception in the Supreme Court premises.
SCBA has requested the members to be on high vigil and alert and has requested them to immediately inform authorities/police or the Supreme Court Security at telephone no. 011-23381960, in case they notice any suspicious article or activity, in and around Supreme Court compound.
It has been decided to beef up the security and vigilance in and around the entire premises till the time ‘present perception’ subsists.
SCBA has taken certain measures to assist the security in this regard:
- Entry in the High Security Zone can be made only with a proximity card or proper pass.
- Proximity cards/passes to be kept ready and shown even at the main entrance while entering through the vehicles.
- Proximity cards/passes have to be displayed by the lawyers while entering the court rooms. Earlier this requirement was only for the clerks, visitors and interns.
- Vehicles have to parked strictly in the parking zones and specifically designated spaces inside the Supreme Court premises, in front of chamber blocks, ILI or newly created parking near Gate No.7-8 at Pragati Maidan. Vehicles parked in no parking area will be strictly towed away.
As per some previous media reports, security has also been tightened up for Justices Dipak Misra, Amitav Roy and Prafulla, the three judges of the Supreme Court who had presided over and had dismissed two writ petitions seeking stay of the death petition of Yakub Memon.
